Learn How to take a manual Blood pressure

If you have been instructed by your doctor to keep a regular check on your blood pressure, it means you need to learn to take a manual blood pressure check on your own.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need: stethoscope and blood pressure cuff.

Step 1 – Find your pulse. Use your index and middle finger together to do so. Place the bell of the stethoscope in the bend of the arm, towards the outside. Place the bell exactly where you found the pulse.

Step 2 – wrap the blood pressure cuff around the upper arm. Two to three finger spaces above the elbow bend

Step 3 – Twist the metal screw ensuring that no air is passing through the cuff. Unless the patient is complaining of high blood pressure do not go above or at 180 degrees.

Step 4 – Twist the metal dial the other way and release the air slowly. Keep listening carefully and be steady.

Step 5 – Keep listening when you first hear a beat. It is the systolic number. The beat that is heard last is the diastolic number. Suppose you first heard the first beat at and 100 and the last one at 90 then your blood pressure is 100/90. Keep a check regularly and enjoy good health.
