How to Build Lean Muscle Mass Through Diet

When building lean muscle mass you have to tailor your diet accordingly. Your diet probably accounts for about half of your muscle building.

To eat for lean muscle you have to ramp up your calorie intake. A rule of thumb is to multiply your body weight by sixteen. So, if you weigh two hundred pounds you should be eating three thousand two hundred calories per day. If after following this routine for a couple of weeks, you have gained more body fat than muscle, you should reduce your intake.

If you are on the lean side, you should load up on carbs and your protein intake should be one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight per day. If you are a little bit on the heavier side you should limit your carbohydrate intake and increase your protein intake. This should typically be about one and a half grams of protein per pound of body weight per day. You should eat frequently and during your waking hours you should never go more than three hours without eating. Count up your daily calories and divide them by six, that way you will have about six small meals per day.

The most important meals of the day are breakfast and your post workout meal. When your body has been fasting all night, you need to load up on protein and carbohydrates to get your body growing again.

Your post op meal should consist of a high carb and protein meal. For the first hour or so after training your body is at its optimum for building muscle, so feed it. If you follow these guidelines coupled with a regular workout routine you will build lean muscle mass
