Hypertension and Obesity

I am one of the unlucky Americans who experienced a mild stroke in the past two years.

When it happened I woke up in the hospital feeling pretty cloudy and confused.

What in the world just happened to me?

Obviously, I was there for a reason but when the stroke hit me my first reaction was confusion because I had never experienced anything of that nature in my life.

At the time I was 32 years old and had never had any health problems up to that point.

When the doctors finally told me what happened I was shocked because I had always assumed strokes only happened to older people and senior citizens. I was told the reasons I had a stroke was hypertension, also known as high blood pressure.

Now all of a sudden I was concerned for my overall health and well being after 32 years of taking my health for granted. I finally calmed down and thanked my awesome doctors at Mercy Hospital in Detroit Michigan for keeping me alive, but I needed to know what caused this and what I needed to do to make sure this health scare didn’t repeat itself.

I was told to lose weight, eat healthier, and stop smoking. I was one of many Americans who did not pay attention to my diet at all because I wasn’t severely obese. I began my new health regimen by cutting way back on the fast food, as this was a big part of my diet. This wasn’t hard to do at first because my close call with hypertension was still fresh in my mind.

My grandmother came to watch over me for a few weeks and made sure I ate foods that were not high in salt. She made healthy meals for me every day because she knew what could happen if I went back to my old habits.

I started to lose weight almost immediately and I had already lost a few pounds while in the hospital because I bit into my tongue pretty badly when I had the stroke and couldn’t chew anything. I also started taking a mile walk every other day to keep my metabolism going steady, per the doctor’s orders.

I actually felt myself becoming healthier by making small lifestyle changes and promised myself I wouldn’t stray from the things that had helped me. Even though I made changes and have been pretty good about staying on my regimen, I still enjoy a cigarette on special occasions.

The hardest habit to stop though has been eating fast food so a couple of months ago I decided to take a diet supplement, which was of course approved by my doctor.

The supplement I take is Proactol, which effectively absorbs up to 28% of the fat in my daily diet. It is also a very effective appetite suppressant because I’m not getting the cravings to eat fast food as much, especially late at night.

Anyone who is considering taking any supplement for any reason should first consult with a doctor because many weight loss supplements being sold and advertised on television can be harmful.

Proactol has no known side effects and has been an important factor for me managing a healthy weight and fighting off the fast food cravings. I still visit my doctor regularly to make sure everything is fine and have been told I’m on the right path to staying healthy. The doctor also let me know that Proactol is safe for me to use over a long term period, which was an important factor in making my choice of weight loss supplements.

Hypertension has been referred to as the silent killer because you just don’t know when it will attack. The key to fighting high blood pressure is not to let it sneak up on you by regularly engaging in unhealthy practices such as smoking, eating fast food, and not getting proper exercise.

Don’t wait until something unfortunate happens before you decide to get healthy because you may not be lucky enough to get to the hospital in time. Exercise regularly, eat right and find a healthy weight loss supplement or appetite suppressant to help fight the cravings for unhealthy food, and never assume that a health scare can’t happen to you.

We have to have the determination and be committed to exercise and healthy dieting, but we are not perfect and sometimes need a helping hand in managing a healthy weight and ultimately a healthier lifestyle.

Proactol has helped me do exactly that. Remember, we only have one chance to live and enjoy life so don’t take it for granted.
