This horse was kicked by another horse, forming a big bruise/pocket of blood, that then turned into an abscess. The abscess then grew and put pressure on the horse’s windpipe, causing it to get into respiratory distress. We confirmed the size of the abscess using ultrasound, and also made sure there were no big blood vessels in the area, before lancing it under local anesthetic.
